The Ark Tree Lodge @ Aberdare National Park

Very iconic, somewhat quirky, The Ark was built to resemble Noah’s Ark. It overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick which attracts a wealth of wildlife, especially herds of elephant. There are viewing balconies and lounges on four different levels, as well as a bunker right next to the waterhole where you can watch and photograph the animals so close you can almost touch them yet remain unseen.

Lake Naivasha – A Photographer’s Dream with Nature as your Model

 Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake in the Kenyan section of Africa’s Great Rift Valley and is located Northwest of Nairobi with the town of Naivasha on its north-eastern shore. At 1,890 meters (6,200 ft) above sea level, the lake is at the highest point in the Kenyan Rift and is set in a complex geological combination of volcanic rocks and sedimentary deposits from a much larger Pleistocene era lake. The rich flora attracts a variety of animals that include buffalo, giraffe, antelope, warthog and monkey and you will almost certainly catch sight of hippos lazily watching proceedings from the cooling water.

Abundance Of Wildlife – The Masai Mara Reserve

It is Kenya’s most popular game park because it is relatively small, yet it hosts an amazing concentration of wildlife. You are almost guaranteed to see the Big Five. The Great Wildebeest Migration – Masai Mara hosts the annual wildebeest migration. Home of The Big Cats – Masai Mara is often known as the ‘Kingdom Of Lions.’ Plus, you can take a Balloon Ride over Masai Mara and take in an unreal panoramic view of the African plains as you spy some of Africa’s varied wildlife in its natural habitat from overhead. You get to meet the friendly Masai people. Excellent Birding Opportunities – There are over 570 recorded species of birds in the reserve. You’ll never be short of things to do and see.

Luxury Mara Ashnil Camp

During this month, daily river crossings by the herds can be seen at the Mara and Talek Rivers in Kenya. In fact, this is often the base of the most exciting crossings! Our stay at the Luxurious Ashnil Mara Camp located inside the Masai Mara National Reserve and close to the Mara River which is famous for the wildebeest migration. Our affordable luxury Masai Mara Camp is arguably in one of the very best locations in the Masai Mara for game viewing and also provides the perfect setting to sit and relax at the end of an exciting day of game drives.

Daily Schedule

  • NAIROBI – ABERDARE / THE ARK
  • Meal plan: (Lunch & Dinner)
  • Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi.
  • Breakfast (on your own).
  • Private Transfer to The Ark Tree Lodge on your adventure safari. En-route towards the Ark Tree Lodge, we will drive past pineapple, coffee plantations, maize fields and local villages. On the way we will get a chance to see some wildlife like elephants, buffalos and other species.
  • Arrive at the Aberdare Country Club for Lunch (time of arrival will depend on our flight arrival time).
  • After lunch, depart with small overnight bags towards the Ark Tree Lodge – remaining luggage to be stored in the luggage storage room @ Aberdare Country Club.
  • Arrive at The Ark Tree Lodge and enjoy tea sitting in the verandah.
  • Delight in some superb game viewing from the comfort of the lounges at your lodge.
  • Watch animals come to you, rather than you chasing them!!
  • Relaxed Dinner.
  • Overnight at The Ark Lodge.

  • ARK LODGE – LAKE NAIVASHA
  • Meal plan: (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Enjoy a Buffet Breakfast.
  • Check-out and transfer to Aberdare Club to pick up your luggage.
  • Depart for Lake Naivasha – passing via Thompson Falls for a brief stopover and photography and continue towards Naivasha.
  • Arrive at Naivasha Country Club for Lunch.
  • Afternoon spent at leisure.
  • Go for a Boat Ride where you stand a good chance to see the Hippos in the lake.
  • Dinner at the Club.
  • Overnight at Naivasha Country Club.

  • LAKE NAIVASHA – MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
  • Meal plan: (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • Enjoy an early morning Buffet Breakfast at Naivasha Country Club
  • Depart for Masai Mara National Reserve, which is an approximately 4 hrs drive.
  • Arrive for Lunch at Ashnil Mara Camp, a luxury tented camp located in the Masai Mara National Reserve and close to the Mara River.
  • In the evening embark on your first Game Drive, expect to see the majestic big five (Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, Elephant and Rhino); wildlife and different bird species alongside varieties of flora and fauna. If you are lucky, expect to see a kill; in Masai Mara everything is possible!
  • Return to the Lodge for Dinner.
  • Overnight at Mara Ashnil Camp.

  • 2 full days in MASAI MARA
  • Meal plan: (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
  • 0630 hrs Depart for a Morning Game Drive.
  • 0830 hrs Return to the lodge for a full Buffet Breakfast.
  • Or have a Full Day Game Drive in the reserve with Picnic Lunch at no extra cost on one of the mornings.
  • Enjoy Buffet Lunch at the Lodge
  • Afternoon visit a Traditional Masai Manyatta (village) to learn more of the Masai culture and purchase their hand made local crafts, in turn supporting their existence and lifestyle within the park. • 1600 hrs Depart for an Evening Game Drive.
  • 1830 hrs Return to the Lodge for Dinner.
  • Overnight at Mara Ashnil Lodge.
  • NOTE: Enjoy 2 full days in Mara
  • Unlimited Game Drives included (early morning before breakfast, mid-morning, late afternoon).
  • Visit to an authentic Masai Village.
  • A full day game drive with picnic lunch boxes is also included on one of the days – timings and day of visit will be decided after discussion on ground.

  • Check out and drive back to Nairobi. We will head to a local mall where we can do some shopping for Souvenirs and have Lunch (on your own). After a brief tour of Nairobi City, get dropped off at your hotel. Time permitting a visit to the Giraffe Centre.
  • Dinner on your own and overnight in Nairobi.
